چکیده

Embedded real-time systems typically perform information processing that is tightly-coupled with physical processes. They are also becoming more and more distributed in order gain typical advantages of distributed processing, such as load-balancing, fault-tolerance, reduced wiring, increased responsiveness, etc. We propose an integrated approach for modeling and analysis of distributed embedded real-time systems where the embedded software and the embedding physical environment are modeled and analyzed within the same unified framework of Hybrid Automata, which is capable of modeling both the physical environment and the controller software, both of which often exhibit hybrid behavior. The proposed approach is applied to the railroad crossing problem as an application example.

The Opportunities Afforded by Embedded Computer Systems for Monitoring and Control of Industrial Processes in Less-Industrialised Countries (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The dramatic changes in integrated-circuit technology over the last two decades have been of great benefit to countries such as Zimbabwe. High volume production of VLSI chips has produced a supply of intelligent, versatile electronic processing devices at very low cost. In particular the facilities of the microcontroller have steadily developed to the accompaniment of a reduction in price. Sinc...

A Petri-net based modeling tool, for analysis and evaluation of computer systems

Petri net is one of the most popular methods in modeling and evaluation of concurrent and event-based systems. Different tools have been created to support modeling and simulation of different extensions of Petri net in different applications. Each tool supports some extensions and some features. In this work a Petri net based modeling and evaluation tool is presented that not only supports dif...

An Integrated Approach to Modeling and Analysis of Embedded Real-Time Systems Based on Timed Petri Nets

In computer-based control systems, embedded software is taking over what mechanical and dedicated electronic systems used to do, that is, to engage and control the physical world, interacting directly with sensors and actuators. Therefore, software running on a digital processor is tightly-coupled with its surrounding physical environment. We propose an integrated approach based on Timed Petri-...

Applying Formal Software Requirements Speciication in the Development of Control Applications

Observations regarding the development of embedded control systems show that software for these systems is developed by control engineers. Lack of understanding of the application domain prevents employment of software engineers in the controller development process. This is undesirable both for reasons of eeciency and quality of the resulting system. This observation motivated the research, de...

A Survey of Concurrency Control Algorithms in the Operating Systems

Concurrency control is one of the important problems in operation systems. Various studies have been reported to present different algorithms to address this problem, although a few attempts have been made to represent an overall view of the characteristics of these algorithms and comparison of their capabilities to each other. This paper presents a survey of the current methods for controlling...
